The Last Adam in Wales Again

A reprint of the Welsh translation of my very short story The Last Adam has been accepted by Gwyllion magazine. This will be my second story in this magazine, and my fourth appearance in Welsh. The Last Adam has also been published in English and Spanish.

The Gondolier in Kannada

Kannada is a language spoken in India, and I almost thought I might have found a venue to publish the Kannada translation of The Gondolier. It didn't work out, so here is The Gondolier in its fifty-fifth language.

ನನ್ನ ಗೊಂಡೊಲಾದ ಕಪ್ಪು ಪರ ಚರಂಡಿಗಳು ಶಾಂತವಾದ ನೀರಿನಿಂದ ಸರಾಗವಾಗಿ ಟ್ರಿಮ್ ಮಾಡಲ್ಪಟ್ಟವು. ನನ್ನ ಪೂರ್ವಜರ ಪೀಳಿಗೆಗೆ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶಕರೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಗರದ ಜಲಮಾರ್ಗಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಿಕರನ್ನು ಕರೆದೊಯ್ಯುವ ಸೊಗಸಾದ ಕ್ರಾಫ್ಟ್ ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ನನಗೆ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿದೆ.

ಪ್ರಾಚೀನ ನಗರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಸೂರ್ಯ ಉದಯಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಂತೆ, ಸೊಗಸಾದ ಮರಳುಗಲ್ಲಿನ ಕಟ್ಟಡಗಳ ನಡುವಿನ ನೀರು ರಿಬ್ಬನ್ ಆಗಿ ಬದಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಸಂಜೆಯ ತಂಪಾದ ಗಾಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ಆಳವಾಗಿ ಉಸಿರಾಡಿದೆ.

ಈ ಭವ್ಯವಾದ ಕಾಲುವೆಗಳಿಗಿಂತ ಸುಂದರವಾದ ಸ್ಥಳವಿದೆಯೇ? ದೋಣಿ ತನ್ನ ಮೂರಿಂಗ್‌ಗೆ ಸರಾಗವಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದಂತೆ ನಾನು ಮಂಗಳ ಗ್ರಹದ ಕತ್ತಲೆಯಾದ ಆಕಾಶವನ್ನು ತೃಪ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ನೋಡುತ್ತಾ ನಿಂತುಬಿಟ್ಟೆ.
