2021 Writing Summary

 So, what have I accomplished in 2021?

Somehow I wrote an entire novel in 8 months, which is now on query with literary agents. 

I also wrote a collaborative short story, a flash fiction piece of 100 words, two short stories, a novella and halves of two other stories. 

I thought I'd made a conscious decision to cut down on the number of book reviews so I could concentrate on the novel, but somehow I ended up writing 24 of those too.

I also had ten stories published this year in seven languages, including one new language: Marathi. 

No idea what I'll be doing next year...

Book Review: The Iron Tactician by Alastair Reynolds

I haven’t read any of Alastair Reynolds’ previous stories about interplanetary traveller Merlin, but in The Iron Tactician we have a novella of almost 100 pages that give enough hints about his background and that of the galaxy he inhabits to make previous knowledge unnecessary.

Book Review: Freefall by Mercurio D Rivera

I have read and enjoyed several of Mercurio D Rivera’s ‘Wergen’ stories in ‘Interzone’ over the past few years, so I was very pleased to receive a review copy of his new novella ‘Freefall’, set in the Wergen universe.

Book Review: Troika by Alastair Reynolds

I read Troika in a single sitting in Eindhoven airport, as one does, and found it to be an enjoyable and engrossing tale that did far more than merely while away the time while drinking tea and eating a baguette of uncertain content.
