At EasterCon I picked up a copy of Andromeda SF Magazine #152, a special bilingual edition of the German magazine that was produced for WorldCon and is full of information about the German SF scene. On the cover is a picture Exodus #30, which contained the German translation of my story The Gondolier, which I was excited to see.
I discovered as I read the magazine that this same cover received the 2014 KLP Award for best artwork. This award is the equivalent of the Nebula - voted for by professional in the SF field.
Gareth D Jones: Unofficially the second most widely translated science fiction short story author in the world

Frozen Depths
My first comic script, a single page story entitled Frozen, was accepted by Murky Depths magazine some time back. Its appearance has now been confirmed for issue #15 and the artwork will be by Mick Trimble.
I'm really looking forward to seeing how my script is translated into pictures. It's always a thrill to see an illustration drawn to accompany one of my prose stories, but this time the whole thing will be somebody else's interpretation of my vision.
Meanwhile I've submitted a 2-page script and I'm still tinkering with a 6-page script that I wrote up a while ago.

Nature Proof
The galley proofs have arrived of World Wire Web, my story that is due to appear in Nature magazine. There's a fantastic illustration of a steampunk gadget to go with it. If the scheduling is the same as it was for my last story in Nature, then it should be appearing in the next couple of months.

New Anthology Imminent

The Peryton Publishing site now has some more information about the Pow!erful Tales anthology, which is due to be printed by the end of the month.
I also heard from the editor that they have decided to illustrate all the stories in the end, so even my very short story The Ironic Man will have an illustration. This will be my first anthology appearance and I’m really looking forward to seeing it.

Oids
My copy of EF-Zin #14 arrived from Greece, and it’s a great little magazine. Glossy colour cover with internal black & white illustrations. The sketches to go with Fool Britannia are fantastic.
I’m left wondering how they translated ‘chameloderm helminthiihumanoids’.

Proofs of Nature
I received the PDF proofs of Travel by Numbers from Nature today to check over, including a black & white illustration. I always feel particularly privileged when a piece of artwork has been commissioned based on my story, and it's interesting to see how someone else has envisioned it.
I also signed the contract and sent that back. No confirmed publication date yet, but I'll let you know when I hear.

New Illustration
While putting all the lost links back together I discovered that my story The Last Adam now has an excellent illustration to go with it. It's a great picture and really adds to the emotional impact of the story.
