Romeo and the Chinese Robots

The Chinese translation of my short story Romeo and the Robots is now out at what I assume is an affiliate of Nature, the original publishers. Nature have worldwide translation rights for a period of time, and several different language editions. 

This is my first story in Chinese - my 36th language!

A Droid by Any Other Name

 My short story Romeo and the Robots is out now at Nature.com, along with my brief 'story behind the story' article. It's my fifth story in Nature, and my second story published in a week!

I'm very pleased to announce that I've sold my short story Romeo and the Robots to Nature magazine, my fifth sale to that august publication. I don't have a publication date yet, but presumably some time this year. 

This is my third Shakespearian science fiction story.

In Response to a Reprint

My short story In Response to Your Reader, which was published last year in Nature magazine's Futures feature, gets a second outing today as one of three stories chosen as the Best of Futures for the Concatenation website.

Romanian Response

 I'm rather pleased that my short story In Response to Your Reader will be published in Romanian fanzine ArtZone SF in the autumn. The story fist appeared in Nature magazine, and will also be published in Greek this summer.

This will be my second story in ArtZone SF and my sixth in Romanian.

Greek Response

 My short story In Response to Your Reader, first published last year in Nature magazine, has been accepted by Greek magazine Ef-Zin, to be published later this year. This will be the first language other than English for this story. I shall now send it off to some other international markets...

In Response to a Request

Long-running fanzine Concatenation has an arrangement with Nature magazine to reprint their favourite three stories of the year on their website. I'm rather thrilled to have been asked if my story In Response to Your Reader can be among them. It will be appearing there some time later this year.

In Response to my Readers

 My new story In Response to Your Reader is out today in Nature magazine, my fourth story there. There's also a brief article at the end where I talk about how the story came about.

Fourth Futures

Very pleased that my story In Response to Your Reader has been accepted by Nature magazine for their Futures section. This will be my fourth appearance in that magazine, a shocking eleven years since my last!

Observers

I'm rather pleased that my short story Observers has been accepted by UK-based webzine Emerging Worlds. This is my second story that was inspired by a dream, the other being Remember Yugoslavia? that was published in Nature a few years back. This one is less disjointedly dreamlike.

Space Station Inspiration

Deborah Walker, one of my collaborators on two different Astropolis stories, has just had a story published in Nature magazine, and in this blog post explains how Good For Something started life on Astropolis.

Futures 2 Anthology Launched

Futures 2 Anthology, featuring the best stories from Nature magazine's Futures column, was launched at WorlCon on Friday evening. The anthology is available in various e formats, and includes my story World Wire Web, along with a host of well known authors and fabulous stories.

I was at the launch party where I met editors Henry Gee again and Colin Sullivan for the first time, as well as several of the other authors.

WorldCon Approaches

LonCon 3 - WorldCon - the World Science Fiction Convention, starts at the Excel Centre in London on Thursday. I'm going on Friday and Saturday - it's only an hour's drive from my house. This will be my first WorldCon so I'm pretty excited, especially as I'll be attending the book launch for the Futures 2 anthology.

World Wire Web in Danish

My short story World Wire Web, first published in Nature, has been published in Danish science fiction magazine Proxima. Danish is my 22nd published language!

Dutch Acceptance

My short story World Wire Web, first published in Nature magazine, has been accepted by Dutch magazine SF Terra. I'm particularly pleased with this as I've already had 2 near misses with Dutch magazines so I'm glad to be finally making it into this language.

This will be the 4th language for World Wire Web as I'm already expecting translations in Galician and Danish. Along with a German story I'm expecting, this will take me to 24 published languages.

Danish Story Sale

My short story World Wire Web, first published in Nature magazine, has been accepted by Danish magazine Proxima. It's scheduled to appear in the spring issue in May. Danish will be the 21st language I've been published in.

I'm hoping to have news soon on three other translations too.

Remember Yugoslavia?

My short story Remember Yugoslavia? is out today in Nature magazine. You can read it online, or listen to the podcast too. This will be my first podcast in an English accent!

The Future is Soon

The proofs of my story Remember Yugoslavia? arrived today. That usually means that it will only be a few weeks until it will appear in Nature magazine.

My future-steampunk story World Wire Web, published last year in Nature, has been accepted by Galician webzine Nova Fantasia. This will be my third story in Galician.
