Dutch Accountability

 My short story Accountability has been accepted by Dutch genre magazine In Tenebris. They're a very well organised team - this is for the September 2026 issue!

This will be my fifth story in Dutch, and the first translation for this story.

Escapades in Dutch

I seem to be on a bit or a roll! The Dutch translation of my short story Escapades in Time is out in issue #288 of SF Terra magazine. 

This is my 7th story in a fortnight! It's the 7th language for this story, and my third story in Dutch.

Dutch Observations

 I'm very pleased that my short story Observers has been accepted by Belgian magazine In Tenebris, to be published in issue #4 some time next year. Dutch will be the fifth language for this story.

A Response in Dutch

The Dutch translation of my short story In Response to Your Reader appears in issue #283 of SF Terra magazine.

This is my second story in Dutch, and the fourth language and fifth appearance for this story.  

The Gondolier in Limburgish

Limburgish is spoken by about 1.3 million people, mostly in the Limburg regions of the Netherlands and Belgium and is related to Germand and Dutch. This translation into Limburgish is the 48th language for The Gondolier.

De zon zat z'ch euver de aw stad, 't water veraanderend in 'n inkechteg lint gelege tösse illegante zandsteine gebouwe. Iech aosemde deep in vaan 't keul aovendwindsje.

Gief 't ein aander plaots sjoender es dees woonderrieke stad vaan kenale? Wie de boot z'n ligkplaots stèllekesaon in voor, heel 'ch stèl um content bove m'ch de duusterweurende lochte vaan Mars te begape.

World Wire Web in Dutch

The Dutch translation of my story World Wire Web appears in the new issues of SF Terra, the third language for this story and the 23rd language I've been published in.

Dutch Acceptance

My short story World Wire Web, first published in Nature magazine, has been accepted by Dutch magazine SF Terra. I'm particularly pleased with this as I've already had 2 near misses with Dutch magazines so I'm glad to be finally making it into this language.

This will be the 4th language for World Wire Web as I'm already expecting translations in Galician and Danish. Along with a German story I'm expecting, this will take me to 24 published languages.

The Gondolier in Dutch

A colleague from work translated The Gondolier into Dutch for me last year and I promptly sent it off to the only two Dutch SF markets I could find. The editors of Pure Fantasy liked it, but they only publish Dutch authors. They did think about it for a while as the story had already been translated, but in the end decided to stick to their remit. The editor of Wonderwaan also liked it, but it doesn't fit in with any of their upcoming themes.

Unable to discover any other potential markets, I have decided to post the translation here.

De Gondelier

De zwarte boeg van mijn gondel baande zich een weg door het stilstaande water van de kanalen. Al vele jaren, met mijn voorouders nog aan het roer, leidde deze trouwe ranke schuit passagiers langs de talrijke waterwegen. 

De zon ging langzaam onder in de oude stad en de vallende duisternis werd zichtbaar in het water. Reeds als inkt zo zwart, een donkere slang zwenkend tussen de elegante zandstenen gebouwen. Ik ademde de koele avondbries diep in. 

Zou er ergens een mooiere plaats zijn dan deze wonderlijke vesting met zijn kanalen? Terwijl de boot rustig aanmeerde genoot ik van de donker wordende hemel van Mars.
