Spanish Reprint Accidentally Saves the Earth from Alien Conquest

I discovered today that a reprint of the Spanish translation of my short story Five Ways to Accidentally Save the Earth from Alien Conquest was published in the May-Aug 2025 issue of Cuban speculative fiction magazine Korad.

This is the third appearance of this Spanish translation, and the story's eighth appearance altogether.

Hiking Whilst Commuting

A reprint of my short story Hiking in My Head is out this week from Commuter Lit. They publish a short story of various genres every weekday, formatted for mobile devices so that commuters have something short to read on their journey.

The story was originally published at Daily Science Fiction and then published in Polish back in 2014, and has had a bit of a resurgence this year with translations in German, Romanian and Galician, as well as this English reprint.

Terrific Tomorrows Yesterday

Well, not exactly yesterday, but a few days ago the anthology Terrific Tomorrows was released, with a reprint of my story Ode to an Earthworm.

I'm really looking forward to receiving my copy - there are some great titles amongst the TOC.

Ode to a Reprint

I'm very pleased to have sold a reprint of my futuristic farming story Ode to An Earthworm to Terrific Tomorrows, an anthology of optimistic SF. It was first published in the anthology Looking Landward a few years ago. It's due to be published next month.

Shockingly, this story has never appeared in translation! I must rectify that...

Telugu Literary Webzine

My story Englebert appears on Telugu literary website Saaranga Saaranga today. In a classic case of 'lost in translation' it has been published in English, not in Telugu.

Five Kind-of Reprints

Five of my translations have been re-published this month, though they're probably not technically a reprint.

The Spanish translations of Frozen, Cat Burglar and Launch have been published at Microficciones y Cuentos, which is a replacement site for Sinergia, where they first appeared a few months back.

Also re-appearing are two Romanian translations that appeared in ArtZone SF magazine and have now both been posted on their new website. Both Observers and In Response to Your Reader are there, now accompanied by fabulous illustrations.

The Gondolier Reprint: Serbian

The Serbian translation of The Gondolier was originally published at SF-Serbia, but is sadly no longer on line, so here t is again:

Crni pramac moje gondole je glatko sekao mirne vode kanala. Ta vitka barka me je godinama dobro služila, noseći putnike vodenim putevima grada, vođena rukama generacija mojih predaka.

The Gondolier Reprint: Ligurian

The Ligurian, or Genovese, translation of The Gondolier appeared on the website Genoves a few years back, but the website has since vanished. Here's the translation again.

O sô o calava in sciâ çitæ vegia, e o rendeiva l'ægoa 'n frexetto d'inciòstro desteizo tramezo a-i eleganti palaççi de pria. Ò respiòu profondamente a fresca brixa da seia.

Gh'ea miga 'n pòsto ciù bèllo che questa mâvegiôza çitæ di canæ? Mentre a barca a s'avixinava a l'òrmézzo, me son fermòu a amiâ de d'ato, sodisfæto, o fâ da seia in scî çê de Marte.
