The Hungarian translation of my story Ogres, Beavers and Other Mythical Creatures is out today in Galaktika magazine. This is the fifth and final story in my Yorick series, and is my eighth appearance in this magazine.

In Response to my Readers

 My new story In Response to Your Reader is out today in Nature magazine, my fourth story there. There's also a brief article at the end where I talk about how the story came about.

The Gondolier Reprint: Serbian

The Serbian translation of The Gondolier was originally published at SF-Serbia, but is sadly no longer on line, so here t is again: 

Crni pramac moje gondole je glatko sekao mirne vode kanala. Ta vitka barka me je godinama dobro služila, noseći putnike vodenim putevima grada, vođena rukama generacija mojih predaka.

Sunce je zalazilo nad drevnim gradom, pretvarajući vodu u mastiljavu traku, položenu među elegantne zgrade od peščara. Duboko sam udahnuo sveži večernji povetarac.

Ima li divnijeg mesta od ovog čudesnog grada na kanalima? Dok je brod uklizavao u pristan, stao sam da sa zadovoljstvom pogledam u suton na nebu Marsa.

Book Review: The Way Spring Arrives and Other Stories edited by Yu Chen and Regina Kanyu Wang

The Way Spring Arrives And Other Stories is a brand-new collection of stories translated from Chinese, with essays and a couple of stories originally written in English thrown into the mix, offers a much broader spectrum of Chinese speculative fiction than the other translations I’ve read in previous years.

Romanian Observations

 It's a week of Romanian stories this week. Only three days after one story was published in Romanian, by short story Observers has been accepted by relatively new fanzine Artzone SF and should appear in issue #3. 

Observers has previously been published in English in print and as a podcast, and in Galician. Artzone SF is a new magazine for me.

Five Romanian Ways

The Romanian translation of my story Five Ways to Accidentally Save the Earth from Alien Conquest is out today in Galaxia42 magazine. It's the third language for this story, with Greek also pending. It's my second appearance in this magazine and my fourth in Romanian altogether.

Fourth Futures

Very pleased that my story In Response to Your Reader has been accepted by Nature magazine for their Futures section. This will be my fourth appearance in that magazine, a shocking eleven years since my last!

The Gondolier in Telugu

 I haven't found a home for the Telugu translation of The Gondolier, so here it is: the 54th language for this story.

నా గొండోలా యొక్క నల్లటి ప్రూ కాలువల ప్రశాంతమైన నీటితో సజావుగా కత్తిరించబడింది. సొగసైన క్రాఫ్ట్ చాలా సంవత్సరాలుగా నాకు బాగా పనిచేసింది, నా పూర్వీకుల తరానికి మార్గదర్శకలతో నగరం యొక్క నీటి మార్గాల ద్వారా ప్రయాణీకులను తీసుకువెళ్లింది.

సూర్యుడు పురాతన నగరంపైకి వస్తున్నప్పుడు, సొగసైన ఇసుకరాయి భవనాల మధ్య నీటిని ఇంకీ రిబ్బన్‌గా మారుతాయి. సాయంత్రం చల్లటి గాలిని నేను గాఢంగా పీల్చుకున్నాను.

ఈ అద్భుతమైన కాలువల కంటే అందమైన ప్రదేశం ఏదైనా ఉందా? పడవ దాని లంగరులోకి వెళ్లినప్పుడు నేను అంగారక గ్రహం యొక్క చీకటి ఆకాశంలోకి సంతృప్తిగా చూస్తూ ఆగిపోయాను.

Book Review: Seven Mercies by Laura Lam and Elizabeth May

Seven Mercies is the sequel to last year’s Seven Devils and the concluding part of this duology. It continues the action-packed, entertaining, fast-paced story of a group of seven rebels who have now taken on the nickname the Seven Devils, based on the empire’s mythology.

Five Ways to Greece

 After my new story Five Ways to Accidentally Save the Earth from Alien Conquest was published in ParSec magazine in December and then the Galician translation appeared in Nova Fantasia in January, it has now also been accepted by Greek magazine Ef-Zin and will appear in the next issue in July.
