 The Podcast version of Accountability is now out on Tall Tale TV - my fifth story to be produced by this podcast. This is my weirdly indefinable alternative Earth tale.

The Last Adam in Wales Again

A reprint of the Welsh translation of my very short story The Last Adam has been accepted by Gwyllion magazine. This will be my second story in this magazine, and my fourth appearance in Welsh. The Last Adam has also been published in English and Spanish.

The Gondolier in Kannada

Kannada is a language spoken in India, and I almost thought I might have found a venue to publish the Kannada translation of The Gondolier. It didn't work out, so here is The Gondolier in its fifty-fifth language.

ನನ್ನ ಗೊಂಡೊಲಾದ ಕಪ್ಪು ಪರ ಚರಂಡಿಗಳು ಶಾಂತವಾದ ನೀರಿನಿಂದ ಸರಾಗವಾಗಿ ಟ್ರಿಮ್ ಮಾಡಲ್ಪಟ್ಟವು. ನನ್ನ ಪೂರ್ವಜರ ಪೀಳಿಗೆಗೆ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶಕರೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಗರದ ಜಲಮಾರ್ಗಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಿಕರನ್ನು ಕರೆದೊಯ್ಯುವ ಸೊಗಸಾದ ಕ್ರಾಫ್ಟ್ ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ನನಗೆ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿದೆ.

ಪ್ರಾಚೀನ ನಗರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಸೂರ್ಯ ಉದಯಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಂತೆ, ಸೊಗಸಾದ ಮರಳುಗಲ್ಲಿನ ಕಟ್ಟಡಗಳ ನಡುವಿನ ನೀರು ರಿಬ್ಬನ್ ಆಗಿ ಬದಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಸಂಜೆಯ ತಂಪಾದ ಗಾಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ಆಳವಾಗಿ ಉಸಿರಾಡಿದೆ.

ಈ ಭವ್ಯವಾದ ಕಾಲುವೆಗಳಿಗಿಂತ ಸುಂದರವಾದ ಸ್ಥಳವಿದೆಯೇ? ದೋಣಿ ತನ್ನ ಮೂರಿಂಗ್‌ಗೆ ಸರಾಗವಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದಂತೆ ನಾನು ಮಂಗಳ ಗ್ರಹದ ಕತ್ತಲೆಯಾದ ಆಕಾಶವನ್ನು ತೃಪ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ನೋಡುತ್ತಾ ನಿಂತುಬಿಟ್ಟೆ.

Five Spanish Ways

The Spanish translation of my short story Five Ways to Accidentally Save the Earth from Alien Conquest is out today at Cuentos para Algernon. This is the fifth language for this story, and my thirteenth story in Spanish.

Shakespearian Cover

The cover of the anthology Of Poets, Spies and the Unearthliness – Otherworldly Tales in the Times of Shakespeare and Marlowe has been revealed, with the release date hopefully to be some time in October.

The book will include a reprint of my story Alleged Shakespeare Play May Prove Time Travel Possible, which was first published last year in Brief Candle magazine.

 

Book Review: Skyward Flight by Brandon Sanderson and Janci Patterson

Skyward Flight is the omnibus edition of three Skyward novellas: Sunreach, ReDawn and Evershore, all of which are related to Brandon Sanderson’s Skyward Trilogy. I didn’t realise this before starting the book but, although these novellas refer back to events in the first trilogy, I was able to follow the story without any problem.

Five Ways to Spain

 Rather excitingly, my short story Five Ways to Accidentally Save the Earth from Alien Conquest will now also be published in Spanish, in the webzine Cuentos para Algernon, sometime in a month or so.

This will be the fifth language for this story, and my 13th story in Spanish.

Five Greek Ways

The Greek translation of my short story Five Ways to Accidentally Save the Earth from Alien Conquest is out now in issue #41 of Ef-Zin magazine. This is the fourth language for this story after English, Galician and Romanian.

It's also my fourth appearance in Ef-Zin.

Book Review: The Daughter of Doctor Moreau by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

I finally got round to reading The Island of Doctor Moreau by H.G.Wells just over a year ago, one and a quarter centuries after it was first published (though it should be noted that I was not actually alive for much of this time), so that the book was still fresh in my mind when I received a copy of Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s new re-imagining of the tale, The Daughter of Doctor Moreau.

The Sound of A Reprint

 A second reprint acceptance within a week, this time my alien murder mystery The Sound of Death, first published at IGMS, has been accepted for the magazine Cosmic Crime Stories, published by Hiraeth Press. It will be appearing next March.
